Unicoin Files for Declaratory Judgment in Uniswap Trademark Dispute

On September 8, TransparentBusiness Inc., operating as Unicoin, filed a complaint in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York against Universal Navigation Inc. d/b/a Uniswap Labs. The suit seeks declaratory judgments that Unicoin's UNICOIN mark and related domains do not infringe or dilute Uniswap's UNI, UNISWAP, or UNICHAIN marks. It also requests cancellation of the federal UNI registration. Uniswap had sent demand letters in June, July, and August alleging infringement, dilution, cybersquatting, and unfair competition. The filing follows Unicoin's launch of its own cryptocurrency and blockchain-related services. No response from Uniswap or court rulings have been issued yet.
