Screendollars Sues Sirius XM Over Star Logo Trademark

Screendollars LLC, operator of a Massachusetts-based movie content website, filed a trademark infringement and unfair competition lawsuit against Sirius XM Radio and its advertising unit Pandora Media in federal court in Massachusetts. The complaint alleges that Sirius XM adopted a logo featuring a five-pointed star inside the letter "S" that is confusingly similar to Screendollars' registered mark.

Screendollars claims it has used its stylized star-and-S design since at least 2022 in connection with content provisioning, media brokering, and related digital services. The company obtained a U.S. trademark registration at the end of 2024. Sirius XM allegedly began using a nearly identical design toward the end of 2023.

The suit asserts that both companies operate in overlapping fields of digital content curation and advertising brokerage, heightening the risk of consumer confusion among media buyers, sellers, and intermediaries. Screendollars seeks monetary damages and a permanent injunction barring further use of the disputed mark.

The complaint emphasizes the visual and stylistic similarities between the two logos and notes that any differences are superficial. It argues that continued use by a large company like Sirius XM risks diluting Screendollars' brand value in the marketplace.
