OpenAI Settles Trademark Lawsuit With IYO Over IO Branding
OpenAI Inc. and its hardware subsidiary Io Products Inc. settled a trademark infringement lawsuit brought by IYO Inc. on Monday. The parties informed the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California of the agreement and requested a one-week pause to finalize terms.
The suit centered on OpenAI's planned use of the 'IO' name for AI hardware products. IYO, a wearable technology maker, had alleged infringement. The court had been scheduled to hear arguments on OpenAI's motion to dismiss or strike parts of an amended complaint that added trade secrets claims.
Settlement details were not disclosed in court filings. OpenAI indicated earlier it had decided against using the 'io' name.
