Moncler Awarded Damages in Beijing Counterfeit Jacket Case
Moncler reported on September 10, 2026, that it prevailed in a trademark lawsuit against a Chinese company accused of producing and selling down jackets bearing counterfeit versions of its logo.
The Beijing intellectual property court awarded the Italian luxury outerwear maker 420,000 euros in damages. Moncler described the judgment as the first to grant maximum statutory damages under China’s revised trademark law.
Moncler initiated the action in December 2014 after discovering Beijing Nuoyakate Gourmet sold infringing jackets and had attempted to register several fake trademarks and domain names. The company noted China’s ongoing efforts to combat counterfeits through cloud computing, big data, and stricter identity verification for online sales.
The ruling comes amid broader Chinese government initiatives to address counterfeit goods in the domestic market.
