McDonald's Opposes MKLOL Trademark Application

16 June 2026

McDonald's filed a notice of opposition on June 11 against a trademark application by Xu Hanfei for the mark MKLOL, asserting that registration would damage the company's existing rights.

The opposition, lodged with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, contends that the applied-for mark is likely to cause confusion with McDonald's family of marks. Details of the goods or services in the opposed application were not immediately specified in public filings.

This action follows standard practice for brand owners monitoring new applications that resemble established marks in the food and beverage sector. The TTAB will now set a schedule for the proceeding if it proceeds beyond initial stages.

McDonald's has a history of actively enforcing its trademarks against similar marks across multiple classes.
