Latvia Supreme Court Upholds Dzintars Trademark Rights

The Department of Civil Affairs of the Supreme Court of Latvia decided not to continue legal proceedings in a long-running dispute over the "Dzintars" trademark. The court announced its decision on August 18, 2026.

The ruling leaves intact lower court judgments that restored property rights to JSC "Dzintars" for the international trademarks "Dzintars" and "Future Formula." The dispute originated from transactions during the company's insolvency proceedings in which the marks had been transferred without compensation.

Dzintars is a historic Latvian cosmetics brand dating back to 1849. The Senate noted no obvious reason to question the outcome or its importance for uniform judicial practice.

The decision is final and not subject to appeal.
