India Opens Consultation on Revised Trademark Practice Manual
The Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks in India has opened a consultation period on a revised draft of the trademark practice manual. The document proposes updates to procedures for trademark filings, oppositions, digital processing, and handling of prior-user and well-known marks.
Stakeholders have 15 days to submit comments on the proposed changes. The revisions aim to streamline administrative practices and clarify rules for applicants and opponents in trademark matters.
The manual addresses key operational aspects of the Indian trademark system, including examination guidelines and procedural requirements. This initiative follows ongoing efforts to modernize intellectual property administration in the country.
The consultation reflects a focus on improving efficiency and consistency in trademark examination and enforcement. Interested parties are encouraged to review the draft and provide input during the open period.
