Epic Systems Settles Trademark Suit, Staffing Firm to Rebrand

Epic Systems Corporation has resolved its federal trademark lawsuit against Epic Staffing Group through a confidential settlement under which the staffing firm will rebrand. The EHR vendor sued in 2024 in the Western District of Wisconsin, alleging infringement, false designation of origin, unfair competition, and dilution arising from the staffing company’s use of Epic-formative names since 2022.

The complaint highlighted potential consumer confusion given overlapping healthcare customers and instances where staffing placements referenced experience with Epic software. Epic Staffing Group had abandoned its trademark application for “Epic Staffing Group” prior to the settlement.

Both parties described the outcome as amicable. Epic noted it acted to prevent confusion, while the staffing firm expressed focus on forward opportunities under new branding. Claims were dismissed without prejudice, with each side bearing its own costs. The settlement was reached in May 2026.
