Dutch Court Grants Novo Nordisk Injunction on Compounded Semaglutide

7 August 2026

The District Court of The Hague granted Novo Nordisk a preliminary injunction on August 5, 2026, against Ceban Ziekenhuisfarmacie B.V. in a supplementary protection certificate infringement case involving compounded semaglutide. The court found that Ceban's nasal spray formulation infringed Novo Nordisk's SPC covering semaglutide and rejected the pharmacy's reliance on any applicable exemption. Ceban must immediately cease distribution, remove product listings, provide supply chain information, and reimburse legal costs. The ruling addresses patient safety concerns over unapproved compounded versions of the GLP-1 medication. Novo Nordisk stated the decision reinforces regulatory standards for quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines. The case forms part of broader enforcement efforts against unauthorized compounding of semaglutide products.
