Delhi High Court Orders Takedown of Fake Zepto Websites

25 August 2026

On August 26, 2026, Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora of the Delhi High Court issued an interim injunction in favor of quick-commerce company Zepto Private Limited in a trademark suit against unknown defendants operating fake websites and social media accounts.

The court found prima facie evidence that the defendants were misusing Zepto’s trademarks for fraudulent recruitment schemes, phishing, impersonation, and sale of goods and services. The order restrains the defendants from using the Zepto mark or any deceptively similar variant in domain names, email addresses, job offers, or promotional materials.

The court directed immediate takedown of infringing domain names and websites. Meta and LinkedIn were ordered to remove fake accounts and provide subscriber information within three weeks. The Department of Telecommunications and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology must suspend flagged mobile numbers and domains within 36 hours.

The injunction remains in force until the next hearing on February 18, 2026. Zepto had filed a police complaint alongside the civil suit.

The ruling addresses large-scale misuse of a well-known brand for deceptive online activities.
