UKIPO Decides Supere Mark Opposition

In May 2026 the UK Intellectual Property Office issued a decision in opposition proceedings brought by Liu Mei Xiang against Supere Limited’s application to register the word mark Supere. The application, filed in January 2024 and published the following month, sought protection in classes 37, 38 and 42 for installation, telecommunications and design services. The opponent relied on an earlier UK registration for SUPERER covering power cables, chargers, computer peripherals and related goods in class 9, together with claims of passing off based on use since 2016. Both parties filed evidence and written submissions but no hearing was requested. The appointed hearing officer assessed the grounds under sections 5(2)(b) and 5(4)(a) of the Trade Marks Act 1994 in a decision dated 19 May 2026.

Small-business owners should keep detailed records of any use of their marks to support or defend future registry or court proceedings.
