IPEC Dismisses easyGroup Claims in Easy Bathrooms Dispute

The Intellectual Property Enterprise Court has ruled in favour of bathroom retailer Cubico (UK) Limited, trading as Easy Bathrooms, in a trademark infringement and passing off action brought by easyGroup Limited. In a judgment delivered on 1 July 2026, Her Honour Judge Melissa Clarke dismissed all claims in full. easyGroup, owner of marks including easyJet, had alleged infringement arising from the defendant’s use of “Easy Bathrooms” and challenged the validity of its registered marks. The court found no infringement or passing off and upheld the validity of Easy Bathrooms’ key registrations. Easy Bathrooms, founded in Yorkshire in 2013, now operates more than 150 showrooms across the UK. The long-running dispute, which began with allegations in 2018, has concluded with the retailer free to continue trading under its established name.
Small-business owners facing similar claims should seek early specialist advice to protect established brands and respond strategically.
