CAFC Revives One Patent Claim in Digital Picture Frame Case

28 July 2026

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit issued a decision affirming in part and reversing in part a district court finding of patent ineligibility under 35 U.S.C. Section 101. The case involves four patents related to digital picture frame technology.

The appellate court remanded claim 19 of U.S. Patent No. 8,xxx,573 for further proceedings in the Central District of California while affirming ineligibility findings on the remaining claims. The suit targets Amazon and concerns features of digital frames.

The ruling revives a portion of the litigation that had been dismissed at the district court level.
