Buc-ee’s Settles Trademark Suit Over Beaver Merchandise
Buc-ee’s, Ltd. reached a settlement with Live Oak resident Kingsley Blancher in a federal trademark case filed in the Western District of Texas. The suit alleged unauthorized sales of merchandise featuring the retailer’s beaver mascot, including stickers, flags, and bandannas. Court filings show the parties jointly notified the court of the settlement on August 28, 2026, and moved to dismiss the action with each side bearing its own costs. No financial or other terms were disclosed. The original complaint, filed in May 2025 against a John Doe defendant, accused the seller of counterfeiting and infringement of Buc-ee’s registered trademarks for convenience-store services and related goods. The settlement closes one of several enforcement actions the company has pursued to protect its branding as it expands.
