7-Eleven Sues Nike Over Sneaker Color Mark

25 July 2026

On July 3, 2026, 7-Eleven filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas alleging that Nike’s upcoming Air Max 95 “Big Bubble” sneaker in a sport-green and safety-orange colorway infringes its registered Tri-Color Mark. The mark consists of orange, green, and red stripes that 7-Eleven has used since at least 1987.

The complaint claims the Nike design copies the protected color combination and is likely to cause consumer confusion. 7-Eleven seeks injunctive relief and damages.

The suit follows Nike’s announcement of the sneaker ahead of a promotional tie-in with 7-Eleven’s Free Slurpee Day.
